Practice Based Commissioning

Practice Based Commissioning (PBC) means the commissioning, or purchasing, of NHS services for each GP practice’s registered patients.

St Marys Surgery has joined Charlton Hill Surgery, Andover Health Centre, The Adelaide Medical Centre, Shepherds Spring Medical Centre and Derry Down Clinic in St Mary Bourne to work collaboratively so that we can make economies of scale and achieve consistency of service provision for the residents of Andover and the surrounding villages.

PBC is intended to “continuously improve services for patients, while achieving the best health outcomes with the investment made, thereby helping to deliver financially sustainable local health economies”.

It aims to put local clinicians at the heart of commissioning decisions as they are best placed to advise on the needs of their patients. Local GPs have identified particular areas where investments of time and resources will greatly improve patient access to, and use of, healthcare facilities
